A 70m2 studio to expand a growing beautician practice on a large ½ acre block in Cowaramup. Budget was a major consideration and dictated the construction method and design. Care was taken to work with standard sizes to reduce wastage and facilitate off the shelf products throughout the build including standard size cladding, rafters, windows and kitchen. Burnished concrete floors was another cost effective solution providing an easy care surface for cleaning with the individual character of concrete. Being a narrow house at 4.4m wide allows excellent cross-ventilation while each room gets a view of the park opposite with small square windows at the back providing privacy to the main residence. Demand for small studios such as this one is going to increase and this is a good example of what can be achieved on a modest budget.
